SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (1983) / SNEAK PREVIEW - WE ARE THE AUTUMN PEOPLE: THE MAKING OF RAY BRADBURY’S SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (2024)

2:00pm - 4:00pm: SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (1983)
Director: Jack Clayton
Writer: Ray Bradbury
1 Hour 36 Minutes

SHIFF and D23 celebrate author and futurist Ray Bradbury with this underrated Disney adaptation pitting two adventurous boys against a malevolent carnival as it invades their idyllic Illinois town. Atmospherically directed by Jack Clayton (THE INNOCENTS) and scripted by Bradbury, SOMETHING WICKED features a stellar cast led by Jason Robards, Pam Grier, Diane Ladd and Jonathan Pryce in his American debut as the unforgettably seductive ‘Mr. Dark.” Rebecca Cline, head of the Walt Disney Archives, will introduce the screening with a rare behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film.

Writer/Director/Producer: Mikayla Theone Khramov
Co-Producer: Taylor L. White

Filmmaker Mikayla Theone Khramov offers this unique “Work-In-Progress” glimpse of her upcoming documentary celebrating Ray Bradbury’s timeless novel, the complicated production behind Disney’s big screen adaptation, and its lasting impact on generations of readers and viewers. This fascinating deep-dive features new interviews with actors Pam Grier, Diane Ladd, Ellen Geer, costumer Ruth Myers, author Stephen Rebello and many more. Khramov will be on hand for a Q&A following the film
