Beat-driven. Employing heavy elements of funk and soul, Paris Monster closes a gap between modern detail and old-school grit. Solid earth. Soaring soundscapes. Funk and soul join with lyrical themes of bygone eras in rural settings. Characters lost, mortality confronted. Love achieved, and denied. Americana. These themes stand in stark contrast to pounding grooves and electronic mayhem, creating depth and dimensions that could have been otherwise achieved only by dropping a modular synth in the corn fields of central New York or the woods of Connecticut.
The first time you see Josh Dion and Geoff Kraly perform live, you’ll realize your mouth has been hanging open for minutes. Or has it been the whole set? This is the initial jaw-dropping shock one goes through at their first Paris Monster show: how are just two people doing this? Josh Dion and Geoff Kraly, the two-man psych-funk orchestra known as Paris Monster.
