Westchester Symphonic Winds - “Journeys of Consequence” (2/11)

The Winter concert features music which reflects events and transitions which changed the world. In observance of the 50th year since the invasion of Czechoslovakia, our featured work will be the dramatic and emotion-filled Music for Prague 1968, by Karel Husa, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1969. Our guest conductor is Keith Hodgson, Asst. Professor at University of the Arts, who will conduct Icarus and Daedelus Fantasy by Keith Gates. Our guest trumpet soloist is Donald Batchelder, principal trumpet of the New York City Opera Orchestra, performing Trumpeter’s Lullaby by Leroy Anderson and From the Shores of the Mighty Pacific by Herbert L Clarke. Our apprentice conductor, Kelly Oram, will conduct selected movements from the Giles Farnaby Suite, by Gordon Jacob.
Other works include Americans We, by Henry Fillmore; A La Machaut, by Andrew Boss; and Tribute by Travis Cross.

Curt Ebersole, Conductor/Music Director
